On 9 June, YCIT held the opening ceremony for its 2025 “Explore China in Yancheng” International Summer School at the Industry-Education Integration Building on Xiwangdadao Campus. The event was attended by Wang Wei, YCIT Vice President, Joyce Song, Deputy Director of UoG China Representative Office, as well as faculty and student representatives from both YCIT and UoG. Qi Jinhua, Director of the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation, presided over the ceremony.
Vice President Wang extended a warm welcome to all participants and highlighted YCIT’s distinctive educational strengths and international achievements. He emphasized the 20-year partnership between YCIT and UoG, noting that this summer school marks a deepening of academic collaboration and a valuable opportunity for cross-cultural dialogue. “This immersive program will allow students to experience Chinese culture, explore the vibrant development of Yancheng, Jiangsu, and China as a whole,” he said. “We hope this exchange fosters mutual understanding and lasting friendships, creating unforgettable memories at YCIT.”
Joyce Song encouraged students of UoG to embrace China’s rich cultural heritage with an open mind. “Through ecological studies of Yancheng’s wetlands and daily interactions with Chinese peers, you will uncover the wonders of science and forge friendships across borders,” she remarked.
Sun Yijie, a faculty representative from the School of Art and Design, urged students to seize this unique opportunity to advance their Chinese language skills while gaining a deeper, well-rounded perspective on Chinese society.
Student representatives Wu Yutong (YCIT) and Luigi Di Pietrantonio (UoG) also shared their enthusiasm. Wu expressed eagerness to exchange ideas and build lasting connections, while Luigi thanked YCIT for the opportunity: “I look forward to learning China’s language, history, and culture, and sharing these insights back home. This school is a dream come true.”
This month-long program—YCIT’s first international summer school—hosts eight students from the UoG. Activities include Chinese Language courses, cultural workshops, city tours, and academic lectures, offering a multidimensional immersion into China’s traditions and the dynamic progress of Yancheng city and Jiangsu Province.
