In June 2024, the National Science and Technology Conference, the National Science and Technology Award Ceremony, and the Academicians Conference were held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The results of the National Supreme Science and Technology Award, Natural Science Award, Technology Invention Award, Science and Technology Progress Award, and International Science and Technology Cooperation Award were announced. A total of 250 projects were selected for the 2023 National Science and Technology Awards, including 49 National Natural Science Awards, 62 National Technology Invention Awards, and 139 National Science and Technology Progress Awards.

Yancheng Institute of Technology (YCIT) as a major participating institution, received the 2023 National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Class) for the project "Key Technologies and Applications for Environmental Pollution Health Risk Monitoring, Control and Emergency Response." YCIT Vice President Professor Ding Cheng was one of the main contributors to this award. This significant achievement marks a historic breakthrough in YCIT's scientific research and innovation work, providing strong support for our goals of upgrading to university status and applying for doctoral degree authorization.
