On March 30, the awards ceremony for the 9th Huawei ICT Competition China Finals was held at Southeast University, announcing the winners of first, second, and third prizes. The "Soaring Eagles" team—comprising Hu Penghui, Ji Shuyu, and Sun Yuhao from YCIT School of Information Engineering—won first prize in the OpenHarmony IoT Application Development track of the Programming Contest for higher education institutions. They will now advance to the 9th Huawei ICT Competition Global Finals, scheduled for May 20-24 at Huawei's headquarters in Shenzhen. This competition featured five contest categories and attracted more than 140,000 students from 1,618 universities nationwide.
At the recent Finals, competition was fierce in the OpenHarmony IoT Application Development track, with only 25 teams from 18 undergraduate institutions successfully advancing to the national finals. The teams demonstrated their creativity and technical prowess, exhibiting young students' spirit of courage, innovation, and teamwork.
Two teams from the School of Information Engineering, YCIT, guided by professors Zhou Feng and Xu Xiufang, qualified for the national finals after earning first prize in the Jiangsu provincial competition. They achieved excellent results in the finals, securing one first prize and one second prize.
The Huawei ICT Competition, an annual global event for universities, has grown in influence since its inception in 2015 and has been officially included in the national roster of collegiate competitions. The competition aims to provide an international platform for university students and faculty, enhance ICT knowledge comprehensively, and focus on developing innovation capabilities. It promotes learning, teaching, innovation, and employment opportunities while accelerating the cultivation of competitive new ICT talent.
This achievement not only demonstrates the solid professional competence and innovative abilities of the School of Information Engineering students but also reflects the School's significant effectiveness in ICT talent development. During preparation, the School leveraged the Huawei ICT School to organize systematic knowledge instruction and skills training for the competing teams, providing support to ensure they faced the challenge in optimal condition. The School will continue to strengthen its coaching team and increase training intensity for the competing teams, striving for further success in the global finals.
Looking ahead, YCIT will further strengthen cooperation with enterprises like Huawei, promote deeper integration of industry and education, continuously innovate talent development models, improve talent cultivation quality, and train more outstanding technical professionals for China's ICT industry.
