On April 23, Yancheng Institute of Technology (YCIT) hosted a "Cafeteria Open Day" event at the Xiwangdadao Campus canteen, inviting student representatives behind the scenes to observe the daily operations and inner workings of their dining facilities.

At the beginning, the director of YCIT's catering services provided a comprehensive overview of the day's agenda and delivered a presentation covering cafeteria management, food safety protocols, and menu development initiatives. Guided by staff members, students then toured the kitchen facilities, including the ingredient storage areas, washing and food preparation stations, and cooking zones. From rigorous ingredient quality checks to standardized dish sanitization procedures, from live monitoring of the "transparent kitchen" operations to systematic food waste management, students gained firsthand insight into the meticulous and science-based approach to cafeteria management.
During the interactive portion of the event, YCIT's pastry chef demonstrated traditional dumpling-making techniques, encouraging students to participate in each step of the process—from kneading the dough and rolling the wrappers to adding fillings and pleating the edges. After cooking, the chefs served plates of steaming dumplings, which the students enjoyed with evident delight.
To wrap up the event, the cafeteria staff presented participants with complimentary meal vouchers, encouraging them to explore the diverse menu options available. The catering services director mentioned that future events would continue to gather student feedback to further enhance dining services, ensuring that campus meals remain both safe and satisfying.
The pastry chef provided hands-on instruction to the students throughout the demonstration. This "Cafeteria Open Day" successfully promoted transparency and fostered meaningful interaction between students and the campus logistics team. The event highlighted YCIT's commitment to standardized, student-centered management practices while cultivating appreciation and responsibility through active participation. Looking ahead, YCIT pledges to maintain its student-focused service philosophy by actively listening to campus community feedback and valuing every shared dining experience.
