On November 23, the finals of the 3rd Yangtze River Delta University Students Laboratory Safety Literacy Competition were held at Hefei University of Technology. YCIT entered a team in this competition for the first time. The team, consisting of Yang Yang, Liu Nianyu, and Xie Zihan from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, competed fiercely and ultimately won the Third Prize.
The competition was organized by the Laboratory Branch of Shanghai School Safety Association, Jiangsu University Laboratory Research Association, Zhejiang University Laboratory Work Research Association, and Anhui Higher Education Institute Laboratory Work Research Association, and hosted by Hefei University of Technology. Seventeen university teams from the Yangtze River Delta region, including Fudan University and Tongji University, advanced to the team finals.
YCIT placed great emphasis on this competition. Wang Wei, Vice President of YCIT, visited the students during their preparation to offer encouragement and, as required by the competition, recorded a video promoting laboratory safety. The Laboratory Construction and Equipment Management Office, together with various schools, actively encouraged students to participate in online quiz activities. Based on the results of these online quizzes, YCIT qualified for the team finals. Students from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering excelled in the online phase and were ultimately recommended to form YCIT’s team for the competition. During the preparation period, the Laboratory Construction and Equipment Management Office provided meticulous coordination and organizational support, with strong backing from the Publicity Department and the School of Environmental Science and Engineering.
Through participation in this competition, students strengthened their safety knowledge, became familiar with the content and requirements of the laboratory safety competition, gained valuable experience, and further fostered a campus-wide culture that prioritizes laboratory safety.
