On the morning of December 1, Professor Cameron Johnstone, Head of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, UK, visited YCIT. Shao Rong, President of YCIT, met with the guest. Heads from the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, along with Professor Chunmei Chen, also attended the meeting.

This visit deepened the mutual understanding between the two universities, marking the beginning of their exchanges and serving as a prelude to future in-depth collaboration. It not only strengthened the academic ties between YCIT and a prominent UK university but also created new opportunities for YCIT’s relevant disciplines to engage with international frontiers and enhance their research and innovation capabilities.

The University of Strathclyde, founded in 1796, is a long-established public research university in Scotland with significant academic influence both in the UK and globally. It has a comprehensive engineering portfolio covering mechanics, electronics, electrical engineering, civil engineering, naval architecture, manufacturing, and chemical engineering, with strong expertise in each area. The university consistently ranks among the world’s top 300 in the QS World University Rankings. Its Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, with approximately 1,100 students, is the largest of its kind in the UK, ranked 7th nationally and 1st in Scotland. In the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, its Mechanical, Aerospace & Manufacturing Engineering program was placed 151st-200th globally, demonstrating its international competitiveness.
