On April 14, the inauguration ceremony for Yancheng Local Culture International Communication and Popularization Base was held in the exhibition hall on the first floor of Runmei Building, Xiwang Dadao Campus. Fang Fen, Vice President of the CICG Academy of Translation and Interpretation; Hu Xiaojun, Vice Chairman of the Yancheng Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences; and representatives from Yancheng Teachers University, Yancheng Foreign Affairs Office, China Yellow Sea Wetland Museum, Yancheng Art Museum, foreign-funded enterprises, and intangible cultural heritage inheritors attended the event. Nie Bangjun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC YCIT Committee and Deputy Secretary of the University Discipline Inspection Commission; Xi Xinguo, Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Publicity Department; as well as principals of relevant administrative departments, leadership of the School of Foreign Languages, faculty and student representatives, foreign teacher representatives, and international student representatives from the College of International Education, also participated. The ceremony was presided over by Jiao Weiling, Deputy Director of the Social Sciences Division.
On behalf of YCIT, Professor Nie Bangjun delivered a speech. He noted that Yancheng has a rich historical and cultural heritage with distinctive “four-color culture,” and the establishment of the base is a key step for YCIT to take root in the local community and serve Yancheng. Fang Fen, speaking on behalf of the CICG Academy of Translation and Interpretation, offered her congratulations. She stated that Yancheng culture is an integral part of China's fine traditional culture, and the launch of the base is both timely and significant. Hu Xiaojun addressed the ceremony on behalf of the Yancheng Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences. He warmly congratulated the establishment of the base and pointed out that it effectively integrates social science popularization with international communication, marking a creative breakthrough in Yancheng's social science outreach. Ye Lei, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages and Director of the Base, introduced the base's development plan. Brady G. Jones, a foreign teacher representative, shared his genuine experience of working and living in Yancheng and spoke about the charm of Yancheng's culture and city from his perspective.
The inauguration of the base marks a new step for YCIT in local social science popularization and international communication. In the future, the base will continue to focus on transforming Yancheng's cultural resources and promoting their international reach, build new platforms for university-local cooperation, create a distinctive brand for cultural outreach, and enhance the visibility, reputation, and global influence of Yancheng culture.
