Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Academic Degrees Committee and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education issued the Notice on Announcing the Review Results of Bachelor’s Degree Authorized Majors for 2026 (Su Xuewei Han〔2026〕No.1). The Intelligent Construction major offered by YCIT passed the review and was officially authorized to confer bachelor’s degrees.

As an emerging engineering discipline launched by YCIT to meet the national demand for digital transformation in the construction industry, Intelligent Construction enrolled its first cohort of 56 students in 2025.

Built on the National First-Class Undergraduate Program of Civil Engineering, this major integrates strengths from computer science, mechanical engineering and other related fields. It aims to cultivate interdisciplinary applied talents who are proficient in digital technologies such as BIM, the Internet of Things, and big data, thereby supporting the development of smart cities and the industrialization of construction in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The curriculum includes core courses such as Introduction to Intelligent Construction, Fundamentals of BIM, Intelligent Surveying and Mapping, Artificial Intelligence and Engineering Data, Intelligent Construction Technology, and Smart Operation and Maintenance of Engineering. Combined with hands-on practical training, these courses prepare students for careers in intelligent planning and design, construction robotics, and smart facility management.

Currently, YCIT has joined the Jiangsu Provincial Consortium for Talent Training in Intelligent Construction, leveraging the Intelligent Construction major as a platform. The university has launched two micro-specialty programs—Digital Twin and Intelligent Construction, and Smart Operation and Maintenance of Underground Space—and is actively driving the transformation and upgrading of its civil engineering-related majors.
