Recently, the 18^th “Higher Education Cap” National College Students’ Innovation Competition of Advanced Drawing Technology and Product Information Modeling completed successfully at Taiyuan University of Technology. Students from School of Civil Engineering, YCIT performed well in this competition. They won 4 first prizes, 3 second prizes, and 4 third prizes in the competition of Architectural Advanced Drafting Technology; 1 first prize, 1 second prize, and 1 third prize in the competition of BIM Innovation Application; and 1 third prize in the competition of Intelligent Building Structural Design. They once again claimed the competition’s highest honor—the Group First Prize (ranking sixth nationwide).

The leaders of School of Civil Engineering showed great importance to this competition, providing comprehensive support and services for teachers and students participating this competition—from YCIT selection process and preparations for the provincial competition to the final sprint for the national finals. In April, the School of Civil Engineering organized the university-level competition to select the best candidates. Teachers including Hu Yanli, Lin Qin, and Gong Xiaofang provided precise guidance, addressing specific needs in skill training, competition software, preparation venues, and hardware facilities. With unwavering perseverance and a relentless pursuit of knowledge, the team overcame every challenge. Ultimately, their solid professional foundation, coupled with a spirit of daring to challenge and striving for excellence, led to outstanding achievements, fully showcasing the strong professional grounding of the School of Civil Engineering’s students.

This competition represents the highest-level national event in graphic arts education and ranks among the most influential national collegiate competitions. In 2018, it was included in the “National List of Discipline Competition for Regular Higher Education Institutions” by the China Association of Higher Education and is renowned as the “Olympics of Graphics.” This year’s competition was jointly organized at Taiyuan University of Technology. It attracted over 480,000 students from 1,147 universities nationwide to participate in the university-level selections. After rigorous competition, more than 15,500 contestants from 1,001 universities ultimately advanced to the national finals.
