Recently, the winners of the 15th Jiangsu "Five-Star Project Award" were announced. YCIT Voice of Dreams Choir stood out with its outstanding performance and won the highest government award for culture and arts in Jiangsu Province – the "Five-Star Project Award." YCIT is the only institution of higher education in Jiangsu province to receive this honor, adds a brilliant new chapter to the development of YCIT’s art history.
The entire selection process consists of two major stages: the preliminary evaluation and the comprehensive evaluation, with each round testing the team's overall strength. In the Yancheng Preliminary Evaluation for the "Five-Star Project Award", the "Voice of Dreams" Choir, with its clean and resonant vocals, chorus of strikingly harmonious sense, and dynamic stage performance, finally won the first place and advanced to the provincial final evaluation, laying a solid foundation for competing for the highest provincial award. Under the guidance of instructor Shen Xiaofeng, the team quickly plunged into high-intensity preparation for the final. From the precise adjustment of vocal techniques to the meticulous refinement of emotional expression, they strived for perfection in every detail. Despite the dual pressure of academic studies and training, the choir members dedicated themselves to daily practice with an attitude of "pursuit of excellence". Before the evaluation, YCITinvited Mr. Ma Xilin—a distinguished music expert, former conductor of Jiangsu Provincial Song and Dance Troupe, and holder of both National First-Class Conductor and National First-Class Composer titles—to provide on-site guidance. In the end, the "Voice of Dreams" choir delivered a stable, outstanding, and heartfelt performance, securing the "Five-Star Project Award" and showcasing YCIT’s remarkable achievements in art education on the provincial stage.
As the top government award for mass literature and art in Jiangsu Province, the Jiangsu "Five-Star Project Award" is held every two years, covering five categories: music, dance, drama, folk art, and fine arts. This year, choir was included as a judging category for the first time. In this selection, 39 choir teams from 13 prefecture-level cities across the province participated, and 10 teams won this "highest award for culture and art in Jiangsu Province".
For years, the YCIT Communist Youth League Committee has prioritized aesthetic education, adhering to the objective of "nurturing artistic literacy and fostering humanistic spirit", with the "Voice of Dreams" choir being one of the notable outcomes of aesthetic education initiatives.
