From September 24th to 25th, Professor Qi Zhitao from the School of Marine and Bioengineering was invited to attend the 2025 Global Coastal Forum and delivered a presentation on the achievements of marine biological products at the special seminar on marine drugs and biological products.
The seminar was chaired by Professor Li Dehai, the vice dean of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ocean University of China.
At the seminar, Qi introduced to the attending leaders and experts YCIT’s educational history and current development, as well as the achievements.
He also introduced the development history of School of Marine and Bioengineering, its disciplinary characteristics, and the construction of research platforms. He particularly highlighted the features and advantages of the Jiangsu Province Key (Construction) Laboratory for the Exploration and Utilization of Marine coastal biological resources in terms of platform support, team building, and research directions.
He focused on the high-value utilization of marine coastal biological resources, and made key presentations on the creation of hypoglycemic products using meretrix polysaccharides and Ascophyllum nodosum polysaccharides, as well as the key technologies for artificial breeding of mud snails and Onchidium reevesii.
This seminar brought together over 200 experts and scholars from renowned domestic universities and research institutions such as Ocean University of China, Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing University, and China Pharmaceutical University.
The on-site communication was lively and the academic atmosphere was intense.
By participating in this high-level international forum, the School of Marine and Bioengineering effectively demonstrated its research capabilities and innovative achievements in marine biological product development to domestic and foreign peers. This not only enhanced the academic influence of the college in related fields but also laid the foundation for future expansion of broader scientific research cooperation.
